My name is Mike Short Jr. I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in the small town of Ottsville, Pennsylvania. However, my most influential and memorable experiences lay in a quaint town on Hoopers Island, Maryland. I will always remember the smell of that sweet salty air. Being in that place is where I truly begun to value the importance of family, heritage and pride. Growing up, I chose to spend most of my time with family. We had fun going to karaoke clubs throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland where I began singing at age 11. As a sophomore at Pennridge High School, I was the underdog who claimed first prize in a singing competition. That very moment defined who I was and where I wanted to be. In 2009, my first album “Blame It On Me” was completed. That same year, I moved to Murfreesboro, TN to begin my freshman year at Middle Tennessee State University. Once my feet were underneath me I formed my current backing band, StateWide. With a country sound that is in demand, you will find us at Tootsies or Pucketts, or in many other famous venues in Nashville and surrounding areas. Summertime is our touring season.
